Woebgon Bassets Sweep Winners at the Shows

The 2011 BHCSC Specialty Shows were a highlight for Woebgon Bassets. Our two nine month old puppies, Woebgon’s Doc Howliday (Doc) and Woebgon’s Dodge City Sarsaparilla (Miss Sassy) were Winners Dog and Winners Bitch BOTH Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s judge Patsy Tranter from England loved both of them and didn’t realize until we were taking pictures that they were litter mates. On Sunday John Bink from Australia was the judge. He was thrilled with the quality of the entry and decided on Doc and Miss Sassy because there was something about them that made them stand out from the rest. Needless to say, Pam and Don were thrilled. Never before have they even come close to sweeping one show and to swept both is amazing. To do at their local basset hound club’s specialty show, under two judges that they didn’t know and who didn’t know each other makes the wins at these specialties even more special.

By being selected Winners Dog on Sunday Doc finished the requirements for his AKC Championship at the age of 9 months, 6 days. He finished with three majors in four shows. Three of his wins were under breeder judges. His owners, Walt and Vickie Ross are even more thrilled than we are with Doc.

On top of Doc and Miss Sassy’s wins there were some other highlights. Miss Sassy was also Best in Sweepstakes on Sunday. Two of our boys, Woebgon’s Long Shot ‘N Vogue (Seymour) and Woebgon’s Gunslinger (Jesse) were Best Brace at Saturdays show.

All the dogs mentioned above are out of our girl, GCh. Woebgon’s Kickapoo Joy Juice (Joy). She couldn’t have had a more appropriate name. She brings us constant joy.
